SEPTEMBER 1, 1862.—Still at Gen. Mitchell’s; been reorganizing the troops; many have sworn in for the war…Companies "A" and "B" not having men enough to organize a full company, a "skeleton" was formed, of which Col. Moore takes command until we reach the border, where we will fill up and have a new organization

Col. Priest’s Regiment reorganized at Memphis, Tenn. in May 1862 & I being his
adjutant was elected Lt. Col.
Priest’s Regiment was reorganized at Des Arc, Ark. in Sept 1862 and there ended the Mo State Guard organization. I was elected Capt. Of Co. A, afterwards attached to Col. A. E. Stein’s 10th Mo Infty as Co A.
