Bruce,
Thank you for sharing that. I have had a hard time following Coleman and his regiment. I know that the records are conflicting as far as times and dates. Your information makes it the 46th understandable now. I am wondering if you can clear up for me the roster on the Missouri SCV website: Is that the Coleman's/AKA 4th Missouri Missouri State Guard, the Partisan Rangers of 1862, or was it the 46th Arkansas or is it the new Missouri unit? If so, the records do not show Wiley Jones that Wiley Jones left the 45th, but he is listed as Commander of Company E. Coleman's MO Cav. Researching Coleman's regimental commands has been a challenge. Any indication as to the kind of man he was? The way he changed commands so often makes me wonder if he had difficulty getting along with superiors.
