I created a web page for Williard Francis Hadley. I found most of the information easily, using my usual sources, then transcribed his confession and put it on the page. I spent a week searching for his family and origin. Two friends, experienced researchers, also looked all week. We came up empty.
Does anyone know his family and birthplace?
I think it's probable that the "born in New Hampshire" and "my parents are French" were to protect his family from being terrorized by the Union troops.
Also, why would the Feds earlier send him to Demopolis, Alabama?
Any help appreciated. I like to put a little family history on my Guerrilla pages, for people who are trying to "connect".
