The article I referred you two also includes an interior sketch of Fort A. (Click here, scroll down http://www.civilwarstlouis.com/JacksonFairgrounds/Ch2.htm) I thought the sketch was footnoted, but apparently not. Been ten years since I put the story up--but I believe that sketch came from, Dr. W.A. Neal, An Illustrated History of the Missouri Engineer and the 25th Infantry Regiments (Chicago: Donohue and Henneberry 1889).

Going back to the map I refer to in my previous post, there are two things I especially like about it-- 1) It shows the exact positions of the forts within the city, and; 2) It shows the specific geometrical designs of the forts....
