If you catch my question to Bruce above there is a list of names of 10 POWs executed at Macon by Merrill on the 26th. I've not run any of them down yet but the most complete records on the mentioned Marion Erwin are actually found in the MO Union Citizens records. Seems the PM did not consider them combatants so they are not in the military records and I believe the twisted logic here is these guys had signed parole and oaths that returned them to "Union noncombatant citizen" status so that is the way the records are filed and indexed. You may find more info there than in any of the CSRs or Confederate citizen files.
