This is taken from their muster rolls:

(2nd) Company K, 2nd Regiment Missouri Cavalry (formerly known as (Old) Co. C, 2nd Regt. Mo. Cav.

Historic Roll of Capt. David Reed Company (C), Hisotorical Memoranda, undated

"The above company was placed under command of Lieut. R. F. Lanning June 2, 1863 by order of Maj. R. A. McCulloch Comd'y 2nd Mo. Regt. Vol. Cav. the officers having been dropped as deserters with the exception of Lieut. Burk who having been left sick & nothing more heard from he was supposed to be dead. The absence of Company books & Muster Rolls make it impossible for me to give a full and correct record of the company. The names of the members of the Company marked 'Deserted April 1, 1862' are those left in Mo. when the Company
started for Corinth, Miss. & who never reported to their Company afterwards." R. F. Lanning, Capt. Co. (F) 2nd Mo. Vol. Cav.
