"Buck" Highley is my gggrandfather William Madison "Buck" Highley who was brother to John Highley b. 1810 and died in Prairie Due Rocher, IL (sp?) in 1864.
William Madison "Buck" Highley harbored Samual Hildebrand at his farm for a short time in June, 1869. Hildebrand was related to Buck Highley's wife through marriage in the Baker line.
"Buck" Highley's farm was stopping point for travelers going from St. Louis to Cape Giradeau--"Highley ford" was where travelers crossed the river at Big River
