Not surprising. Never ran across any evidence for a MSM unit carrying Smith Rifles, but I have for Wesson Rifles. And then there's always those reports from 1864 discussing the results of Missouri competitive tests on various rifles, with declarations that the Wesson Rifle was the best self-exploding cartridge rifle.
