Major Wortle?

Has anyone been able to identify who the CSA "Major Wortle" was that Lt. Col. J.T. Buel of the 7th MO Cav (Union) stated had been wounded at the 1st Battle of Independence on Aug. 11?

The closest name I have come up with is that of Jesse P. Worrell of Cass County. According to Sterling Price's Lieutenants (Rev ed.) on p. 396, Jesse P. Worrell was a captain of Co. G of the 10th Cav. Regiment, 8th Division, MSG. Commissioned 12/19/61, resigned 4/14/62. He is given as a 48 yr old KY native residing in Harrisonville, Cass County. Assuming he didn't join one of the Confederate regiments on the other side of the Mississippi, this would make him eligible for the recruiting expedition back into Missouri near his home. Without any other information I wonder if he was the "Wortle" wounded at Independence and wasn't able to return to regular Confederate service thereafter?

Find-a-grave lists him as in the Worrell-Riddle cemetery in Cass County. Birth: Apr. 28, 1812. Death: Feb. 27, 1872. Indications are he was married to a Rebecca (Cooley) then Mary A (Briscoe) Sims. Might also be the father of three daughters: Mary E., Nancy, Almyra.
