This is according to the Missouri State Archives Soldiers Database: Wesley Middleton age 22, enlisted Aug. 1862 in Co. E, 29th Missouri Infantry at Ironton, Mo. He was wounded at Chickasaw Bluff, Mississippi Dec. 29, 1862. From the record it looks like he was transferred to the Veterans Reserve Corps, which was I think for soldiers who had been wounded badly enough they werent fit for active field duty.
