Those terms have changed in usage a lot since the Civil War, as Len indicated. I just wanted to help even though I don't think I completely pegged all of them.

No, I don't relax much. Life is just too short, and I don't know what the future holds. I relax by reading this forum and answering when I think I can help. My own genealogy is so contorted that I sympathize with people trying to figure out theirs. I have already been working on the next book in the series, but it won't come out for at least a year.
