Capsule histories of these units are online at www.mississippiscv.org. Click on "Research Help," then "History of Mississippi Units" (or something close to that).

In MS CS Graves Registrations, I find:

PETTY, Green 26th MS Inf. 1833-1908 Tish Alco (birth and burial counties)

who, of course, is your second Green Petty.

This Green's widow filed two CS Pension Applications: one in 1908 and one in 1916, both in Alcorn County, MS. She lists her husband as "G.W." and "Green Petty," both times stating that he was a veteran of the 26th MS Infantry.

Her name is given as "Drew Ciller Petty" in one application and as "Drucilla" in the other.

See www.mississippiscv.org. Click on "Research Help," then "CS Graves Registrations and CS Pension Applications" (something like that) for more info on the above info.

Hope this helps! -- Jim Huffman, Gainesville Vols
