ok here is the family story that has been passed on to me. .

My ggggrandfather Thomas Edward Ates served in the MS 7th Infantry Battalion, Compnay G. . .and so did his brother James H. Ates. . .it is said that they both died in the Civil War. . .now there is a rumor of sorts that both men deserted and they were hung in New Orleans. . .and then again perhaps they died in combat I don't know. . .right now I am trying to research this with no luck whatsoever. . .If anyone can help please email me at nikkistone_77@yahoo.com
