Re: CPT - Later Major Abner Reed
In Response To: CPT - Later Major Abner Reed ()

Hello from Houston , Texas

I am also searching for information on Major Abner Reed
and also on Samule Eaves.

My Great Grandfather James P. Mc Graw and his brother
Thomas H Mc Graw sigend up to serve the confederacy at
the Abner Reed store in Fern Springs Missippi. Both served under Major Abner Reed according to family records.

JP Mc Graw and TH Mc Graw mentioned in a letter that they were very close to RW Carter, an officer under Major Reed
and were serving with many friends and neighbors in the Fern Springs. Samuel Eaves was among those mentioned.

Neither JP or TH Mc Graw have ever been found. We do not know if they chose not to return to Fern Springs or were killed.

The unit number was 5th Mississippi Infantry. If you have any information on the Mc Graw brothers, we would be great ful if you would share it. We want closure to find the brothers and bring them home to our family burial plot in Louisville, Missippi.

Sincerely

James E. Mc Graw
