Thank you for your information. It was interesting to learn that the exact location of Camp Van Dorn was not known.

I was particularily interested to learn that the 40th Georgia Infantry reported to Camp Van Dorn, March 28, 1862. That would have put them there at the same time as my GGGGfather.

It was also interesting to learn that Knoxville and specifically Camp Van Dorn was where recruits went for their initial training. This falls in line with the facts I know about Zachariah Newcomb.

Also apparently there were many deaths there attributed to illness.

I may never know exactly where Zach was buried but I know about where.
