George, thanks for responding. I have seen the Timothy L. Needham as well but unless he changed his name while in the war this is not the Thomas I am searching. His death certificate has Thomas Lumpkin Needham. In some of my research I find that the 4th MS Calvary was originally known as the Copiah Horse Guards and reorganized in Sept. 1863 into the 4th Calvary. But where Thomas was is a big mystery.
