You can get old newspapers on microfilm via InterLibrary Loan. (I noted on an earlier post that you wanted back issues of the Woodville Republican.) I have been quite successful in having my wonderful local library get these for me.

Also, the State of MS began issuing and keeping copies of death certificates in 1912. The MS Dept. of Archives & History has an index to most of the older certificates on microfilm. You might email them and ask them to do a look-up to see if he has a certificate on file that you could order a copy of. I don't think the actual certificates are with the MDAH; I think you have to order them (after confirming them through MDAH's index) from the MS Dept. of Vital Records.
