Just noticed your post. I can tell you that your ancestor is not identified in the McGavock Confederate Cemetery. He may be buried among the Unknowns, but he might also be among the nearly 300 Confederate graves that were lost or obliterated between the time of the Battle of Franklin and when the soldiers were exhumed and moved to Carnton in the spring of 1866. Unfortunately, there is no way to know for certain where he is buried. Also, Gen. Adams' men crashed largely into the area defended by Jack Casement's Brigade. Adams' Mississippians were the supporting brigade of Loring's Division at Franklin and suffered serious losses, including Adams who was killed.
