I'll see what I can find on your ancestor.
You do make one minor errant assumption in your posting, though. Mr. Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation applied only to those areas NOT under Federal authority at the time. As the Confederate States did not recognize his authority over them, his "proclamation" held no merit in those areas. Few, if any, slaves were freed as a result and that document had absolutely no bearing on the migration of anyone.
