Bear in mind that the other two Temples are probably listed as "absent, sick" rather than "present, sick". Use of the term 'hospital' almost always means a soldier had been sent away for medical treatment.

Also, it's not uncommon for a soldier to have died in a hospital while his name is still carried on the company muster roll as 'absent, sick'. Communications left something to be desired.
