Re: Camp Davis Ford, Va
In Response To: Re: Camp Davis Ford, Va ()

Since I already stated that I am no CW historian, I am not ashamed to ask " What, please is the SHSP?

Also, I have another letter from a fellow in 12th MS dated 10/6/1862 from Camp Posey, near Winchester, VA informing my g-grandmother of her brother's death. In the letter from Davis Ford, he said it took about 8 days for the mail. Given that he also mentioned that he had been away from camp when letter came, I believe the poor fellow died in September. Do you know where the 12th MS was from June or July '1862 until then and in which battles they fought? Also, with what other CSA regiments, companies, etc. they were fighting? We are all trying to figure what brother died (may be a brother-in-law).

Thanks for any information you have.
