Re: Tupelo CSA Hospital

Hello George, As you have already been able to see my online access and abilities are very limited. Therefore I have no knowledge of any info from IN sources. Cemeteries. As per my 3Nov05 note to you there are some places in the area where the dead from Harrisburg are buried. In fact the acre that is now maintained by the Nalt Park Service as the Tupelo Battlefield site is the old Harrisburg cemetary and I am 99% sure it is owned by the UDC. I have a picture of it soon after the battle. There are few if any men from the battle buried there. I ran across an old newspaper clipping wherein a UDC leader said there were 69 men buried at Harrisburg. That is the same number that is buried at Chesterville. Don't know if she got it mixed up or if they were moved. I have a record of the pepole buried at HB and it says nothing about a mass grave. I have read everthing I can find about HB, but I have never found anything about any union troops being buried in the immediate area. Ole AJ lost some here and some were shot up too bad to be moved, so some of them probably died, but I do not know where they were put to rest, even if they were reburied elsewhere later. ANYWAY, I hope this might be of a interest to you, we will keep looking for more sources. pete
