The Mississippi in the Civil War Message Board

Sgt. Samuel A. Matthews

Samuel Matthews is an ancestor. He was from Springdale, near Oxford. He was captured lying wounded at Shiloh. He was with Cleburne there. He was eventually wounded at the battle of Lickskillet Road near Atlanta, went to the hopital, but never made it home. I am new to the use of this message board. I welcome any help or comments.

He was the oldest of four boys. Then there came four girls. He was 21 at the start of the war. Family legend has it that all four boys never came back from the war. I have been able to find records on three, so far.
