Re: Possible burial site
Unless someone took it upon themselves to replace the wooden marker with stone or something else more permanent, it's long gone and the site location lost. For instance, wooden markers were used to mark the original burial sites of Confederate dead after the Battle of Franklin TN. During the winter people from the town collected some of them for firewood. Fortunately the McGavock family removed the dead to their property near town, carefully marking each with whatever information was available.
