Re: Battle of Ellis Bridge - Feb. 21, 1864

Ref: Geo. Purvis' notes from 6 July regarding Ellis Bridge.

George, thanks so much for providing the links to this battle. I read all links posted and had a very meaningful walk thru history. I was impressed by the life of Col. Charles C. Horton of the 2nd Iowa Cavalry, particularly his quote after the war and the story of his brother's death (8th Iowa) at Lovejoy, GA (not far from where I live in GA). There was also a link to how Col Horton came from Iowa to Lovejoy, GA in the winter for 1865/66, by wagon from Iowa, to retrive the body of his brother and take him home. Families suffered such great losses on both sides.

Thanks again,

Ed Rea
