Mr. Richey,
I know a decendant of James Douglas Caulfield too, if you would like his contact info. I placed a Mex War VA marker for Dr. Caulfield, in the Liberty Cemetery. The ancestor I know said he was buried there beside two of his children. We couldn't find anything, so my father and I started to dig to place the upright marker. About an inch below the surface, we found a brick, and after further prodding, we found a 2'x6' line of bricks there!
It is said that Dr. Caulfield "patched up" Jefferson Davis at the battle of Buena Vista. Dr. Caulfield's son, James Jr. attended alot of the veteran's reunions here in Liberty.
I know several decendants of men of the Liberty Guards. Richard W. and Robert Love Anders are great uncles of mine. I know decendats of Capt Nix, David Wall, "Claudie" Davis, the Ducks, Underwoods, Peter Marsalis, the Leas, several others, and possibly one of J.P. Brown, who was killed at Baton Rouge.

Email me at virgilroberts@hotmail.com I would be interested in attending, in or out of uniform.
