Of the total number Vicksburg survivors transported to Mobile aboard just those four steamships mentioned yesterday (Suffolk, Crescent, H. Chouteau and St. Maurice) -- as many as 1,357 sick/wounded men through early August 1863 -- a great many more units than the 37th Alabama regiment were represented aboard ship (it accounted for fewer than 50 total men thus transported).

In re-reading my earlier post, I was afraid I may have unintentionally implied those numbers were representative of this lone regiment.
