One of the soldiers I am researching, Warren Wigginton 43rd GA Inf, was aboard the St. Maurice from Vicksburg to Mobile. According to his wife's pension, he died "in transit to Mobile". Any thoughts on what they would have done with the men who died like this? Would they have transported them to Mobile and buried them there, maybe at Point Clear? Or would they have made a stop on the way to bury them? His records like some of the others discussed above did list the Steamer that he was aboard. Thanks for any info!
