Here's a "cliff notes" version of my Magee linage and relation to Dr. J. O.(Jacob Oscar) Magee .
According to family records:
Dr. J. O. Magee was the 6th son of Fleet Magee and Mary Rebecca Pigott. ( They Married Feb. 15, 1822 - Marion, County MS )
Fleet Magee: B. 1787 Sampson County, NC. Died 5/26/1847 Marion County, MS.
Mary Rebecca Pigott: B. 1803 Liberty County, GA. Died 186? in Marion County, MS ? Rebecca was the Daughter of John Pigott & Martha Dubose Warren.
Fleet was the 8th son of Jacob Magee and Mary Scott.
( There is a some confusion about the date of Fleet's death. His tombstone reads "died May 26, 1847". While His War of 1812 Widow's Pension filed by Rebecca lists
his death on August 23, 1847 ) .
I am a lineal descendant of John "Jackey" Magee. The 10th son of Jacob and Mary Scott . ( Fleet's little Brother)
Their Father, Jacob Magee, was born in Edgecomb County, NC sometime during the first half of the 1750's .
Their Mother, Mary Scott was appx. the same age. It is said she was born in Sampson County, NC . That would make sense as Sampson County was formed from the original Duplin County , NC following
the Revolution. The Magee's are all over Duplin County, NC : Court records, - deeds, wills, ect.
I'm posting this in hopes that it may help others in their Mississippi WBTS research, & that we also may learn some new facts.
