Thanks! These dates don't add up though. On May 5th, the Union cavalry were at Big Sand Creek and south of Warrenton. It does not appear that the mounted men had returned to their unit on May 14th, because the O.R. reports of the Battle of Jackson mention the participation of a battalion of the 14th Mississippi.

Did you get these from researching muster rolls of the Fourteenth? Is there any chance the dates could be off by a week? The mounted companies of the 20th Mississippi were riding with Wirt Adams as ordered by Pemberton ... he had also ordered a portion of the 14th to do the same.
