Sandy: Be very proud of this man. He was only 20 years old, a young famer, and he died in Yankee hands, having been captured at the Battle of Gettysburg, after having been shot in the leg, which the Yankees later amputated. He died in Yankee hands in hospital at Pt. Lookout, MD, and is presumably buried there. He was single. I hope that you can obtain a proper VA stone to mark his grave at Pt. Lookout or get a memorial VA stone for placement in a family or community cemetery, as this man should be remembered forever by his community and his relations. Thank you for honoring him. You can order this Southern Patriot's Compiled Military Service Record from the link at the top of this page. -- Jim Huffman, 43rd MS Infantry Vols, CSA
