Be forewarned that the entire four-volume set (of which he only had a few left last year) retails for around $300, but is well worth the price if you're going to be researching MS CS soldiers.

I am told that there is a way to obtain from the NPS Soldiers and Sailors site a searchable database of all the soldiers in a regiment, whereby you can obtain a listing of all the men in a single company, which would be useful in putting together a muster roll of, say, all of the soldiers in Co. K, 6th LA Infantry. If you know that a given company was raised in Greene County, you could thus assemble a handy list of Greene County Confederate soldiers.

Again, I do not know how to use the NPS site to obtain this searchable database, but I was told it could be done.

Regarding Greene County CS companies, I do know that the following were raised in sparsely-populated Greene County, MS:

1. Capt. Brantley's Company (aka Greene and Perry Squad, Co. H, 3rd Battalion Infantry Minute Men (State Troops) (1862-1863) (Burgin's)

2. Gaines Warriors, Co. A, 24th MS Infantry

3. Stevens' Company, Co. F, 17th Battalion MS Cavalry (aka Co. D, 9th MS Cavalry [Miller's])

Naturally, a number of other CS companies were raised in the MS and AL counties surrounding Greene County, and some Greene County men surely served in those companies.

Of course, you have my email address, and I am ready and willing to help you with identifying prospective members' CS ancestors!
