I have heard for years that Jackson was called "Chimneyville" because most of it was burned to the ground by Grant and Sherman. I think that many years ago I even saw a photograph of the damage. I have been challenged to shows proof of such by a southern hating Massachusetts gentleman on a Facebook site. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? I have already provided a clip from Wikipedia but their credibility is sometimes pretty weak. Thanks in advance.
