Re: Corp Richmond C Barr-killed 1864?

You may procure his records through the service noted in the Red enclosed box above.

Richmond C. Barr, 3rd Corporal, Company D. 2nd Battalion Mississippi Volunteers, enlisted August 14, 1861 at Graysport, Miss. by Capt. L. C. Lee for the war, recorded sick in Richmond November 20, 1861, recorded Company D, 46th Regiment Mississippi Volunteers at the end of 1862, advanced to 2nd Corporal, n.d., subsequently 1st Corporal, killed May 12, 1864 at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, his records show a number of prior hospitalizations, mainly due to diarrhea

The 48th Regiment Mississippi Infantry was formed by increasing the 2nd Battalion Mississippi Infantry to a regiment July 10, 1862, and appears to have been known for a short time as the 46th Regiment Mississippi Infantry but that designation was not recognized by the Confederate War Department and it became the 48th Regiment Mississippi Infantry
