Well hello cousin. My Great Great Grandfather was John Owens, Stephen's older brother. Your the first family Owens I've ever had contact with. I would like to find out more info on the family if you would like to share.

"Told by George Washington Owens to Thomas Lee Owens: Soon after the outbreak of the Civil War Stephen joined the Confederate Army. As he was preparing to leave home and join his regiment, he told his sons to stay out of trouble while he was gone. According to Leander, who was between 10 and 12 years old at the time, he and his brothers were in the neighbor's field stealing watermelons less than an hour after their father left."
