Here's another, I am unable to find information on Smyth's Company.

Thomas B. Simpson, age 22, Private, Capt. Chas. G. Feild's Company, Pope Walker Battalion (Troopers) of Cavalry,* joined for duty and enrolled November 14, 1861 at Columbus, Miss. by Capt. Yancey for one year, value of his private horse $200, equipments $25, his presence not noted on the subsequent and last surviving muster roll dated March 6, 1862, no further records

* This company was also known as Company A, 4th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry, and subsequently became Company C 8th Regiment Confederate Cavalry.

Stationed at Columbus, Mississippi, November 14, 1861.

November 14.— Muster-in roll of Captain Charles G. Field's

Company A, in the Pope Walker Battalion of Cavalry, com-
manded by Major C. Baskerville, called into the service of the
Confederate States in the Provisional Army under the provisions
of the Act of Congress passed February —, 1861 by — from
November 14, 1861 (date of this muster) for the term of twelve
months, unless sooner discharged. . . .
