Re: 6th Regiment South Carolina Infrantry

I also had an uncle that died in Holly Springs. I have been looking for him for many years, with no luck. I was again there last fall with a friend who has really studied the area. At some time the court house burned along with the Masonic Hall. I cant remember if it was during the war or after. I mentioned the Masonic hall because I understand that at times important papers were stored in these buildings. . Of course all the records for the community were lost. A lot of the old houses still stand and there are a lot of interesting stories as to why when a lot of other towns in the surrounding aears were destroyed and theses homes were spaired. There is an old large well maintained cemetary 2 or 3 blocks off the town square. When you go through the main gate, if you go at about 2 oclock some 75 yards or so you will find a small group of confederate markers. I understand that they show the spot where 2 or 3 hundred troops are buried. I can not find any information about the names of who is there . I know that I havent helped any, but as I continue to look for Luther, I have decided that hill would be a good place to rest for him and the many other unknown troops there.
