Re: 11th MS @ 7 Days before Richmond

Thanks Alan. I remember being on that site before, regarding the 11th, but had forgotten about it, thanks.

It would be well worth rereading Burke Davis' book; his account of Jackson's last days, especially with his young wife and baby daughter, brought me to tears.

Some 40 years ago I met Gen. Jackson's granddaughter; she was in her late 80's, maybe 90 I think and a resident of a Presbyterian home for the elderly in High Point, NC. Folks from that home came to a covered dish supper at our Presbyterian Church in close by Jamestown, NC.

I was in Lexington, VA on business a couple of months later and mentioned it to a member of the Lexington Historical Society; I don't know that they knew she was still alive and living there. It's always amazing how you remember things like that.
