Dalton, C. J., Wounded severely in trenches at Vicksburg
Paroled at Vicksburg July 16, 1863
Died in City Hospital No. 2 from wounds July 30, 1863
After parole, his regiment was allowed to depart Vicksburg as a unit and marched out where they arrived at Enterprise, Mississippi remaining in Parole Camp until they were later exchanged.
He was no doubt buried in Vicksburg's city cemetery and his original wooden grave marker lost to the weather before he could be re-interred as an unknown in Soldier's Rest.
