My great, great Uncle was Sgt. Samuel D. Knight of company C.
He was wounded in action on the first day at Gettysburg, and later fought in a number of other engagements before being captured at Cedar Creek in Oct., 1864. He died a POW at Point Lookout, MD in Dec. 1864, the day before his 25th birthday.
There was a posting herein several years ago by a D. Burris which referred to Sgt.Knight. The posting referred to a letter that Sgt. Knight co-wrote with Wesley Leonard after the battle of Cold Harbor. I am interested in obtaining a copy of this letter if at all possible. The e-mail address for D. Burris is no longer active, and he(or ? she) has not posted for the last couple of years or so.
