Tks for the tip, George. It wasn't uncommon for (visual) signal ops to be called that, or their technique be called "telegraph" by the "uninitiated." But some were truly electro-magnetic (wire) telegraphers, and I do try to take note of that. (Just before the war, Gregory was in Indiana as a teen-ager, with occupation given as "engineer," and I'm still mulling over that -- railroad?)
