my grandmother Mary P. Ward was Gen. William P. Roberts neice. Her mother and Gen Roberts were brother and sister. I know that he was the youngest brid.gen in the CSA and came back to Gates to live after the war and did die from a fall due to ice on the street in Gatesville and was taken to Norfolk and died later. He and his wife did not have any children. My grandmother use to talk about the General --she did remember him because she was born in 1880.
