I did a little research into the family a few years ago. Another of Col. Stephen Lee’s sons was Charles C. Lee, colonel of the 37th NCT. Col. Stephen Lee is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Asheville, not too far from Zeb Vance (and Brig Gen. Robert Vance). Col. Stephen Lee’s tombstone has the names of his sons on it, often leading people to believe they are buried there also. Col. Charles C. Lee is buried in Elmwood in Charlotte, a plot over from Rufus Barringer.
