I don't have the photos you requested, but it certainly helps to have accurate unit info. You requested a "J.Thomas" with the NC 1st Sharpshooters. Existing records show only one Thomas in that unit, with the initials W.F. Also, Gen. Steuart did not command this unit.

I then looked at the NC 1st Infantry, and it was brigaded for a time under General Steuart. It lists 2 "J.Thomas". James Thomas, Company A, of Guilford County, died at Elmira, NY. James K.P.Thomas , of Company H. Is one of these the person you seek?
