Eli was with Co D 17th Ga., but the 17th Ga reg. was connected with many others to form the Army of Northern Virginia, under the command of James Longstreet. Eli was my great great grandfather. Can you tell me where you saw the letter. I am trying to located so I could see the original. Have seen it on your post and also on the computer under the United Daughters of the Confederacy Patriot Ancestor Album. This book is no longer pubished and I am unable to even find one for sale online anywhere so locating the original letter would be a great view for the family.
