THE TROY [N. Y.] DAILY TIMES
FEBRUARY 2, 1864.
A TROPHY OF FORT FISHER. – We are indebted to Erskine Shultz, of Company B, One Hundred and Sixty-ninth Regiment, for a trophy captured by him in the memorable assault on Fort Fisher, which came to hand this morning, and is duly appreciated. It is a dingy little volume of about one hundred pages, giving the military laws of the Confederate States, printed by J. W. Randolph, 121 Main street, Richmond. On the fly-leaf is written: "Presented to Lieut. Exum L. Hunter, of N. C.,* by Geo. W. Rock, of Va., Dec. 30, 1863. Nil Desperandum." If Hunter wants to "hunt" for his book he will find it in the Times sanctum, and can procure it by "taking the oath."
