The Raleigh Register contained a casualty report for the 24th NC at the Battle of Chantilly. The report listed a
J. W. WHITESIDE of Co. C as wounded "dangerously" as as
being "Colorbearer".
I have been unable to find any other record of this man.
Does anyone know more of him?
