In Response To: 24th North Carolina Inf. ()

Ken,

There are two possibilities. A Joseph W. Whiteside and a James W. Whiteside are listed on the roster of Company C, 34th North Carolina Infantry. No record of wounds on these two. Could one of these be him? Perhaps the newspaper account is in error. There is no one by the name of Whiteside listed on the roster of the 24th. There is, however, a Record of one, PVT Aaron W. Whiteside, Killed September 1, 1862 at Ox Hill(Chantilly) carrying the colors of the 34th North Carolina. Is it possible that one of these three is your man?
