Michele,

Are you asking about how to obtain the original documents verifying William Rudd's service? Are you asking how to genealogically connect your daughter with William Rudd? Are you or is some other female family member a UDC member who used William Rudd to join this organization?

If you want William Rudd's Compiled Military Service Record, the "official" documents used to verify his service you can obtain them through the link below or from the North Carolina State Archives. If you have a family member who is already a member of the UDC through William Rudd, then all you have to do is prove your daughter's relationship to that person. If you're asking about establishing your daughter's relationship with this man or her genealogy, then a combination of birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, censuses and other documents would be the accepted way.

I hope that helped.
