The South's desire was "right" as they did not want the things the North did. They saw an end to their way of life and was fighting to keep it the same. We would do the same if we knew as they back then knew that it could be preserved. They were invaded by a force shovng it's ideas upon them, an opposing force who did not want to be like they, the North.

The North's "preserve the Union", the people of the Norths were used to their way of life and could not understand the South not wanting the same, in their own Right, they too were fighting for what was right, The Union to them.

Both sides like us today, did not know the political rhetoric or propaganda they were recieveing was false. WE just like they, take up our rifles and defend our country just like they did, even to the point of invading a country that has no desire to be like us. Vietnam or Iraq, it applies.
